The Ministry of Education has announced the funding results for the 2026 Study Abroad Program Series (Xuehai Program), with Chung Shan Medical University (CSMU) delivering outstanding performance. Across three major programs—Xuehai Feiyang, Xuehai Project, and New Southbound Xuehai Project—CSMU received a total subsidy of NT$6,233,723, ranking first among all medical universities in Taiwan in total funding. This achievement highlights the university’s long-term excellence in international education and talent cultivation.

Among these programs, the Xuehai Project, which encourages students to undertake short-term internships at overseas professional institutions and gain early exposure to international workplaces, delivered especially remarkable results. This year, CSMU secured approval for six projects, receiving NT$2.52 million in funding. From 2023 to 2026, CSMU has received the maximum funding allocation for the Xuehai Project for four consecutive years, demonstrating strong recognition from the Ministry of Education in overseas internship planning, international partnership integration, project execution quality, and positive feedback from faculty and students.

With strong support from Board Chair Chou Ying-Hsiang and President Huang Chien-Ning, CSMU places great importance on students’ international development and actively invests in scholarships for global learning opportunities, encouraging students to confidently step onto the world stage. Through the long-term efforts of the Office of International Affairs and faculty members across departments, the university continues to connect students with high-quality overseas learning resources while securing substantial funding opportunities.

In an era of globalization and rapidly evolving medical technology, cross-cultural communication, digital adaptability, and international perspectives have become essential competencies for next-generation healthcare professionals. CSMU has long been committed to internationalization and has established stable partnerships with 117 sister universities, two affiliated partner hospitals, and six internship institutions worldwide, creating a comprehensive international exchange platform.

The university noted that, supported by Ministry of Education funding and institutional matching funds, CSMU continues to expand opportunities for students to participate in overseas exchange and internship programs. These experiences allow students to strengthen professional capabilities and gain valuable international exposure in multicultural environments. Through training at leading international teaching hospitals and professional institutions, students gain deeper insights into healthcare cultures, clinical systems, and emerging technological trends in different countries. This ultimately helps cultivate future healthcare professionals who possess both strong expertise and global vision, contributing to the enhancement of Taiwan’s overall healthcare quality.
