Chung Shan Medical University (CSMU) has officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Faculty of Medicine at Japan’s National University of Toyama, marking a significant milestone in Taiwan–Japan medical collaboration. The agreement, signed by Dean Chao-Bin Yeh of CSMU’s College of Medicine and Dean Takashi Nakagawa of the University of Toyama’s Faculty of Medicine, establishes a long-term framework for academic exchange, clinical training, and joint research initiatives.
Under this new partnership, both institutions will develop structured programs for student mobility, clinical observerships, and the exchange of scholarly resources. Dean Chao-Bin Yeh highlighted that this cooperation is central to CSMU’s internationalization strategy, providing students with essential exposure to diverse healthcare systems and clinical cultures. Dean Nakagawa, representing the WFME-accredited Japanese faculty, expressed high expectations for the synergy between the two universities in advancing global medical education.
During a three-day visit to Taiwan, the Japanese delegation toured CSMU’s state-of-the-art facilities, including the virtual anatomy lab and medical simulation center. They also visited Chung Shan Medical University Hospital to observe advanced technologies such as the da Vinci robotic surgical platform and smart pharmacy systems. CSMU Vice President Chun-Che Lin noted that while the current focus is on medicine, future collaborations may expand across additional disciplines to create a broader institutional impact.
